French President Nicolas Sarkozy finally took up the two-year old invitation from his Djibouti counterpart President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh (IOG) to visit his country. The visit was indeed lightning, at 11 pm on 19 January when the aircraft taking Sarkozy to Paris on his way back from Mayotte and Reunion Island stopped for fuel. The Djibouti President came away a happy man from this nocturnal meeting. Read more »

Asmara, 21 October 2009- In an interview he conducted with Reuters News Agency here today, President Isaias Afwerki underscored that it is not in the Eritrean government’s political culture to portray unrealistic image through exaggerated expectations. “Hence, we don’t want to give invented promises regarding gold and other mining ventures,” he elaborated.
