Yes you are right, but I heard that if someone want to open the company, the government asks share in the company. If it is true, no individual or country are interested in investment.
Government should run the system. owning the company or having share in the company is non of the govenment busness.
government should deal with tax, and the people of the country will have job apportunity, in addition, the country is beneficiary from new technology.
I wish if they learn from Singapor (the best country to invest/to work with)
Oky! body!

There is no dobut that Eritre is a good place to conduct business in, the problem is uncertainty. In a country where there is no confidence of changing government without violence can be very intimidating to invest in. Eritrea does not have that experience of changing a government peacefully, nor do they have any violent experience.

This is indeed an encouraging news to hear about Eritrea's economy, especially coming from an international financial organization like the IMF. However, the government of Eritrea must be encouraged to attract it's diaspora community to invest in the country, and that can only be possible if the regime starts to release opportunities for the citizens to invest into.

As far as the deficit in trade is concerned it can be lowered once the mining begun producing the ingots needed to inject hard currency in the country will start balancing itself out, this also must be complemented with relaxed trade investment laws. Eritrea does not have highly trained human capital nor does it have manufacturing base potential, therefore the only way forward for Eritrea economically is the economic stimulating laws the regime lays. Most importantly catering for Eri-spora to come and invest, this is by far more important than catering to attract foreign investments. Because Eritreans have the experiences and the desire to invest in their country with full understanding of the culture and the customs of their people, foreign investors are less likely to invest in a country with virtually no record and reputation of defending foreign investment.

Add that to low productivity with lower human index compare to what other countries offer in similar situation, this is not to say that Eritrea's human index is not relatively better than the countries surrounding it, but for foreign investment an African country has to present itself just like the Asian countries that compete for foreign investor capital. This is besides the fact that Eri-spora has much more tolerance to the limitations the Eritrean regime has. Only go after foreign investors after satisfying the trade infrastructure needs of it's citizens can then start actively looking for foreign investors to add on the internal potential laid foundation. Just like Japan, catering to internal potential is better than having to look far outside of one's own realm.

For this and other potential unexpected difficulties foreign investors face to fill confident enough in investing in a country like Eritrea, the regime must understand that there are several countries that are going to make the investor wanna come to them. It's important for IMF to communicate these points to the Eritrean government. Giving priorities to local potential investors is necessary for all African regimes before they start looking outside of their plots. The most essential part of all is to let the investors feel that the country is capable of accommodating government change without the usual turmoil seen in other African countries. For that, the only solution is to encourage democratic institutions to be equipped with the necessary independence merit.
