On a long train journey recently, we came across a parallel road, being at the front end of the train, I noticed a greyhound that was hurling on the same direction. Curiously, my eyes followed it until it disappeared from my view. Then things changed and saw once again the greyhound making its way as if it was some kind of a race, the train driver announced, “there is some technical work taking place ahead, and we will go slower”, and the greyhound swiftly went past us. Asmara — President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at the Denden Hall with the EU Special Envoy to Sudan, Ambassador Torben Brylle.
In the meeting, the two sides conducted extensive discussion on Eritrean-EU relations and the prevailing situation in the region, especially Somalia, as well as the Sudanese issue in general and that of Darfur in particular.
Following in-depth discussion on the existing crisis in Darfur and the disagreement and problem being witnessed between north and south Sudan in the wake of the signing of the Naivasha Agreement, the two parties reached understanding to work jointly towards promoting peace and stability in the Sudan and the region.
